When bored, as I am now, I Google “London Underground” on a regular basis and recently came across a Chicago Tribune article where the reporter claimed that the Tube was noticeably cleaner than the CTA. Having been to Chicago last year I can’t say I noticed much difference between the two, it was certainly cleaner than the New York Subway when I was there a few years back.
The article also mentioned that some Tube stations play
classical music over the station PA as this seems to discourage reprobates and
their unsocial behaviour. I get a taste
of this every time I go back to Dagenham Heathway to visit Mother shrugged but
for some reason it always reminds me of Kubrick’s “A clockwork orange” where a
lot of the violence, which is rather tame when compared to today’s standards,
is accompanied with selections from Beethoven and Rossini.
Real horrowshow, droogies.
